Having been long enamoured with his early works, particularly the intoxicating sounds of 2017's 'Petals Have Fallen', musician, producer and Tirzah-collaborator Coby Sey dropped his debut album Conduit this year. Arriving via AD93 in September, we got to see the majority of it performed live at Pitchfork Music Festival London, an event which saw Sey and a fleshed out band deliver the tracks with flair, imagination and some slightly unexpected (but very welcome) dancing. Critical and contemplative throughout, the album speaks directly on topics close to Sey's heart, exposing injustices and exploring the parameters of sound through his own unique lens. With the expansiveness of singles 'Permeated Secrets' and 'Onus' promising highly, the rest of Conduit didn't disappoint, easily making for one of the most intriguing listens of the year. -Holly Mullineaux
